Newsight Imaging introduces eTOF™ LiDAR, a groundbreaking reference design for 3D long range LiDAR

Based on Newsight’s NSI1000 sensor chip, the reference design targets Automotive 1st tier safety application and robotics LiDARs

Shanghai, China,December 14, 2020: Newsight Imaging, a 3D solutions maker based in Israel, launched today its enhanced Time-of-Flight (eTOF™) reference design of full resolution, long range (0.2-100 meters), low power, low cost Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR). The kit is available for ordering starting in January 2021, and includes a demonstration of 32X1024 depth points, capturing a 3D image concurrently, with no moving parts or MEMS. The design is based on class-1 eye-safe VCSEL with an offered field of view (FOV) of 30 degrees and will be enhanced later up to FOV of 120 degrees. The reference design is highly configurable for different applications and very flexible in coping with different scenarios and lighting conditions.

Based on Newsight’s NSI1000 sensor, the eTOF™ LiDAR is specially designed for a wide horizontal FOV and a high frame rate. It provides high accuracy and precision with a high dynamic range (HDR). It has very compact dimensions (95 mm x 72 mm x 62 mm) and is connected to a development application that runs on PC using a standard USB connection.

According to sources, the LiDAR market is estimated to bypass 2.8 billion USD by 2025, while the COVID-19 pandemic boosted the use of robotic solutions.

Newsight is offering its customers two main models of engagement: Licensing the eTOF™ LiDAR to build a LiDAR product while buying the sensor chips from Newsight,or acquiring the PCB module, NSI1000RDCV1, with the sensor chip and a full software and documentation kit.

Newsight will present the eTOF™ LiDAR reference design at the LiDAR Tech conference, booth no.2 on 15-16 December, taking place in Crown Plaza Hotel Lobby, Shanghai.
